The Axis and Hamas Strategic Bewilderment
One of the most common misconceptions about Hamas’ recent strategy is the belief that it has successfully halted the progress of the IMEC (India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridors). In reality, this is not the case—not yet, at least. Hamas has also failed to stop the regional normalisation of relations with Israel; if anything, it has accelerated it.
An unspoken objective of Hamas in this conflict was to disrupt the IMEC, which it perceived as a strategic threat, as it would make Israel’s integration into the region irreversible. This integration was seen as a precursor to Israel "finishing the job" by ending Palestinian aspirations for statehood, as indicated by the Abraham Accords.
