The US Declares War on Houthis' Newly Found Financial Power

The Houthis, in collaboration with Iran and other Axis members, are working to establish a regional trading system that bypasses the dollar, supported by Russia and China.

Since the war in Gaza began, the Houthis have been solidifying their rule both domestically and regionally. Following their successful maritime blockade against US, UK, and Israeli ships in the Red Sea—protesting the continued genocide in Gaza—the Houthis have implemented several domestic initiatives that have alarmed the US. These include reopening previously closed roads to enhance connectivity and economic activity, and more controversially, assuming the authority to issue national currency independently in Yemen.
