President Trump’s new Saudi agreements look like a triumphalist checklist. Nuclear, critical minerals, AI, tanks, F-35, and nearly 1 trillion dollars in investment promises. The agreements are less of a strategic breakthrough and more of a highly asymmetric refinancing deals. Saudi Arabia is being asked to borrow and recycle capital into the United States while accepting vague commitments on security and technology that Washington can stretch or dilute at will. The emerging regional order is reliant on fragile security garauntees.
