Iran Joins Russia in Effort to Shape Post-War Sudan
Sudan is moving away from Washington and the Abraham Market, a major blow to the normalisation drive in the region and beyond.
Last week, the Islamic Republic of Iran, represented by the Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, signed an agreement committing to Iranian investment in various sectors and strengthening trade with Sudan, in a step towards increased bilateral cooperation in the country's post-war future. The agreement coincides with the finalisation of the long-discussed Russian Port Sudan agreement and precedes the Sudanese Foreign Minister’s official visit to Tehran, where he will sign a coordination agreement to establish a consultation committee on regional and international issues of mutual concern. The series of events is a materialisation of the North African country’s integration into the Axis of Resistance (AOR), previously predicted by MENA Unleashed.
